Kalamunda Secondary Education Support held a very successful Post School Information Mini Expo afternoon on the 29 October in the High School Staffroom. The information afternoon was aimed at parents/guardians/carers, informing them of options for their young adult once they have left school, whether it be Employment, Alternatives to Employment or Supported employment. Many thanks to the agencies that attended. Workpower Centrelink/Human Recourse, NDIS, Interchange, GSI, RISE, AT WORK, Interwar*, Crosslinks, ACTIV and The Autism Association.
I would like to give special thanks to three of our Upper school students, Amy Thomas, John-Paul Tolczyk and Shaun Bamdon who gave up their time to assist in the preparation, setting up and cleaning up of the event as well as looking after presenters and visitors with food and drinks.
Many of the families that attended found it beneficial and have made a connection with agencies that could assist their child in transition from school either into the workforce or alternatives. They have also put in place further assessments to be conducted in their home where the agencies can meet their child.
