Upper School ESC3 (Miss Pennetta)
Term 3 has been very busy year for the year 12’s with numerous curriculum activities, incursions and excursions. Majority of the students in ESC 3 have commenced Keys 4 Life, which is a comprehensive, evidence-based program that will educate our students about road safety and the consequences of not following the law. They will become familiar with the Drive Safe booklet, where students will have the opportunity to sit the Department of Transport test a maximum of twice at school. They will need to achieve a minimum of 24/30 to pass. With this, they will be able to use this certificate as part of the process of securing a Learner's Permit.
A school incursion visit from Transperth ‘Get on Board’ provided information to the students the importance of traveling safely on public transport. We also had the pleasure of one of the Transperth security guards attend and stress how vital it is to be safe on public transport, paying for your tickets and how to add value to your smart rider and the consequences of an invalid ticket. Student’s were shown video clips regarding ‘in case of emergency’ or issues and how to contact security guards at the station and speak to the driver on trains. In term 4 ESC 3 we will be attending a guided tour to the new Busport underground.
During our social time, students have participated in class Art sessions where they had a choice of various designs on canvas, a variety of Aboriginal dot painting and their own design. Students where very pleased with their art work and there is a very impressive display on our classroom wall.
The school garden is coming along very nicely. Students have laid mulch on the ground
and used tyres to make extra garden beds. We have planted tomatoes, capsicum, egg
plants and parsley.
The year 11’s-13’s attended North Metropolitan Central TAFE at Leederville Campus, for a Market Day & Disability Programs Open Day. The purpose of the visit is to give our students an insight of TAFE environment and the variety of courses that are available. TAFE students who attend the campus, kindly gave up their valuable time to host a tour around the campus and the various courses that are available. We were given the privilege to go into a variety of classes and given explanation of the courses that are taken with the classes. Thanks to Ms Spadanuda for organising the excursion, a great day was had by all.
For the school disco, students in ESC 3 made Chocolate Crackles and Honey Joy during our cooking sessions and a good team effort from the girls. These were a hit and everyone had a good time at the Disco.
Many thanks from ESC 3 Staff.
